About Susan

There's a saying, "The stories we tell are how we live our lives. When we're in the middle of change, which hardly anyone likes, (except maybe a wet baby and even they're not thrilled) we need to change the stories we tell, the stories we live."

I'm a coach and performer who has spent over 20 years helping people bring their visions to life ranging from creating an Alberta Centre for Peace and Meditation to the largest Fringe Theatre Festival in North America.

Whether it was the retired accountant turned harpist, stricken with nerves before performing, that I asked, "What do you know to be true?" They went still and entered their zone of Flow.

Or whether it was taking on the role of facilitator with an Employment Search service, where I get to help hundreds of people make sense of their skills and next moves.

Or or course, bring stories to life on the stage.

In all of my work, I fuse personal development theory, acting techniques, and a sprinkle of mindfulness. I love meeting people where they're at and helping to create a safe space to play with what life's thrown them.

This work has recently taken me from the boardroom to the production studio, where I co-host a TV talk show "The ChangeZone” with my favourite coach and friend Gail McDonald.

“When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees,

You see all these different trees. And some of them are bent…

You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way.

And you don’t get all emotional about it.

You just allow it.

The minute you get near humans, you lose all that.

And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this’

That judgement mind comes in.

And so, I practice turning people into trees.”
