The Blue Wind Name

My name and logo for Blue Wind coaching and services is deeply linked to my personal and professional process of collaboration, creativity and coaching. You’ll note there are 3 main strands, this is the landscape that lies behind that.

I love coaching, the art of listening to the stories of folks’ journeys and the posing of stimulating, probing questions.

The stories folks tell are how we live our lives.  When we are in the middle of change, we need to pay attention to Story-Changers, the Perception-Shifters we come across.

Carl Sandburg’s story The White Horse Girl and the Blue Wind Boy is one of these. It’s a Perception Shifter.

He describes a character’s ability to ‘listen to the winds’ (on the prairie).

“There’s a blue wind of daytime starting about 6 o’clock in summer and 8 o’clock in winter.

There’s a night wind with blue of summer stars in summer and blue of winter stars in winter.

And yet there’s yet another, a blue wind of the times between night and day, a blue dawn and evening wind.”

“The early morning wind is as strong as the prairie and whatever I tell it I know it believes and remembers.

And the night wind with the big dark curves of the night sky in it, the night wind gets inside of me and understands all my secrets.

And the blue wind of the times between, in the dusk when it is neither night nor day, this is the wind that asks me questions and tells me to wait, and it will bring me whatever I want.”

Now, these 3 blue winds as they relate to my personal and professional process of collaboration, creativity and coaching.

First, the blue wind of morning honours my/our strength and believes /welcomes me where I/we are at. And it makes the investment as I do, to remember/value what has been shared.

We get to ‘not know and be wise’, to be vulnerable and strong’ at the same time!

Secondly, the night wind with the big dark curves of the night sky, safely gets inside and respectfully understands my/our private spaces. It does not tell. Confidentiality is a must.

Thirdly, it is during the times between day and night, between beginnings and endings, where the true work of creativity and growth take place. Part of trusting the process is to dare to wait mindfully.

We get to wonder, and know that goals that make an impact, goals that matter are not created alone. We need others, to contribute, to be part of the journey. We need to be part of something bigger.

It is through listening, understanding, questioning, processing and taking consistent actions that we will achieve whatever we want: to love more, achieve our goals and make those actions enjoyable.

The Blue Winds are at your service.
And so am I.
